Specialist Learning Disability & Autism Home Care
Empowering Independence Through Active Support
Our learning disability service is designed to empower individuals to live fulfilling, independent lives in the comfort of their own homes. We believe that everyone, regardless of the level of their disability, should be an active participant in their own life. Our approach is rooted in the “Active Support” model: our carers focus on “doing with,” not “doing for.” By breaking down complex tasks into manageable steps, we help individuals build the confidence and skills needed to move toward greater autonomy.
A Person-Centred Approach to Wellbeing
We create bespoke support plans that focus on personal goals, aspirations, and the maintenance of meaningful relationships within the community.
Skills Development
Building independence through daily living support, from managing a personal budget to using public transport.
Community Access
Dedicated support to access education, social opportunities, and local activities.
Autism & Sensory Specialisms
Expert understanding of autism spectrum conditions, focusing on communication and sensory regulation.
Family Partnership
We work closely with families and advocates to ensure a holistic, consistent approach to care.
Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) & Sensory Care
For individuals with complex cognitive or neurological needs, the home environment must be a place of safety and predictability. We use evidence-based frameworks to reduce distress and promote positive engagement.
Understanding the “Why” Behind Behaviour
We utilise Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) to understand the reasons behind challenging behaviours. Rather than just managing symptoms, we implement strategies that reduce triggers and reward positive communication. These plans are reviewed regularly by our clinical leads to ensure they evolve with the individual.
Sensory-Centred Environments
For many of our clients, particularly those with Autism, sensory sensitivities are a critical factor in daily wellbeing.
Sensory Audits
Our staff conduct audits of the home to identify and mitigate triggers like specific lighting, textures, or background noises.
Low-Arousal Strategies
By creating a low-arousal environment, we proactively reduce the frequency of meltdowns and anxiety.
Communication Tools
We match carers based on their experience with specific tools, such as PECS or Makaton, ensuring every individual has a voice.
